Paypal Supporting Pages
While you are waiting to get your account verified, there are a couple new pages you will want to add to your site. These pages are simple to create, can be done in the building blocks, and will make the Paypal payment process much more seamless for your visitors. They are called the "Successful Payment Url" and the "Cancel Payment Url". You will set both of these urls to be non-indexable by the Search Engines. Create a new page, name it something like ... paypalcomplete. The title could be Paypal Purchase Complete Page. The description and keywords don't matter; so just enter something so you won't get an error message. You will not be passing Analyzer for this page, so don't even try. Remember to check NO for including in your RSS/Blog ... you do not want this page to appear there. In the first text block, put the robots noindex tag, you can copy the tag from the box below:: After that, copy and paste this in a text block: You can add more, edit, etc. the proposed content above but, you must have 2 things included in any content for this page:
1. You must confirm that the payment was made; and 2. You must tell the buyer that an email with payment details is coming (Paypal will send it). Now, this is where it gets fun! At this point, you got your Most Wanted Response (MWR) of having your visitor pay you something. You get a chance now to get a different MWR from them. This would be a great place to: 1. Have them signup for your newsletter (add your ezine block to this page with a paragraph or two preselling your ezine); 2. Give them a couple links to product pages or post affiliate links right on this page (do not put Adsense on this page, it is not allowed); or 3. If you offer a secret report to those who donate, include a link so they can download it here. Preview and build your page, then copy the url to your desktop (in Notepad or something) so you have it ready for later. If you used my suggestion above on naming your file, your url will be: http://www.YOURDOMAIN.COM/paypalcomplete.html Change YOURDOMAIN.COM to the proper domain for your site. Now, the next page you will be creating is the "Cancel" page. Sometimes people don't go through with the payment process ... for a variety of reasons ... here is where you can still get your MWR (most wanted response) from them, or a secondary one. You will create the page in the same manner as the "Payment Successful" page, including the robots tag, but the content will be different. I suggest you name the file ... cancel ... and put cancel in the title box. Again, you won't need to worry about Analyzer so just put anything in the description and keyword box.
Remember to check NO for including in your RSS/Blog ... you do not want this page to appear there. Depending on what MWR you want, you can: 1. Put in a feedback form to find out why they cancelled; 2. Presell/upsell (see items 1 and 2 for the "Payment Successful" page); 3. Explain how their donation can help maintain your site and remind them of the free gift they will get if they complete the process, then provide the donate button again here. Ok, once you decide what you want to do, create and preview the page, again, you won't need to pass analyzer, but do build the page and get the url for use later. If you followed my file name suggestion, your url would be:
http://www.YOURDOMAIN.COM/cancel.html Change YOURDOMAIN.COM to the proper domain for your site.
